Note: the “Intimation Messages” will be published monthly however the first five entries will come weekly as they were originally published as newsletters on LinkedIn.
I hope this newsletter finds you well, and that there is something here that touches your mind, heart or spirit. In last month’s brief message, I discussed how Life flows constantly through time and that between the two is Space. Space makes room for life to expand. Let’s recap the main points.
Time and life are all we have so:
Use the time you have to create the life you want
Use the life you have to make the time you need to bring the life you want into existence.
Your life is your own so allow your space to make room for your life to expand.
Entry #2
A Dream’s List
In this entry I want to expound on my theory that “Space makes room for life to expand” first by providing one action step you can use to help you determine what to focus on in your journey and then explain the concept in more detail.
Space makes room for life to expand and evolve so that once you figure out what you want to do you can bring it into existence. How do you do this you ask? Well, there are several ways to make this happen, but I will focus on only one of them right now.
Create a “Dreams List”
This list should consist of all the things you want to do including those things you think may be impossible; (Kind of like a Vision board). You know, the things you think are never going to happen for whatever reason. Add them to the list too.
Break it down into sections of time
Once you have created the dreams list take the time to break it down into sections of time.
You can choose short lengths of time such as weekly, monthly and yearly goals or longer lengths of time such as two-, three-, five- and ten-year goals.
How you break them down will depend on how much space you want to use to work on each dream according to your lifestyle.
Then determine which dream you want to focus on first and add them to the shortest time frame to create your first list of goals. This will be your starting point.
Use that starting point to begin to map out a plan of how you can bring life to your goals to fulfill your dreams.
Repeat steps two and three with each individual goal, using one of the following strategies:
Choose to map out a plan for each goal all at once
Map out a plan for one goal at a time, keeping a working list that you update as you complete each goal
Don’t get me wrong utilizing these steps does not mean that it will be easy, and it does not mean that it won’t take time but it if you learn how to use the space you are in physically and mentally to make the room you need to expand your life it will evolve into the life you are dreaming of. Space makes room for life to expand.
Tying it All Together
Defining How Space Makes Room and Life Expands
Space: We all know that there is space all around us. One of my favorite lines I heard someone speak about space comes from a female comedian named Hazel. She simply states that “there is space ALL around you” and she is right there is. We have the physical space that we are in wherever we are; our house, car, store, outside etc. but there is also space in our daily schedule that we do not always take advantage of.
This means that we have periods of time we can probably use that we don’t even realize are available to us. These periods of time throughout our day are the same as the space around us. And just like when you fill the space in the kitchen underneath the chandelier with a table, you can fill that space in your calendar with specific steps to take toward fulfilling a goal.
That’s how space makes room for life to expand. Space is already there it just needs to be utilized, so rather than spend time on things that do not aline with your goals (closing the space around you) analyze your routines to determine what matters and what doesn’t.
Then eliminate what doesn’t matter so that you can spend some of your time on the things that do. Now, this does not mean to remove the pleasures in your life, IE: hobbies, such as watching TV, reading, hanging out etc. enjoying downtime and leisure time is what keeps us grounded, happy, joyful and at peace. But it does mean to enjoy those areas in moderation and in addition to working on your goals. Sometimes we can get so focused on everything else that we lose sight of the Space we can use to do the one thing for ourselves that we’ve been putting off. So, use your space (physically) and your space (in time) wisely.
Life expanding: When I say that life expands what I am saying is that it enlarges to make room for growth and with that growth you are able to find a way to live a Peaceful, Joyful Life doing the things that you want to do. The things that make you happy and bring you Joy.
Yes, joy and happiness are two different things happiness is fleeting but necessary, but joy should be a constant that comes from within and is always present. Even during bad times, you should still have Joy. If you are living a life that expands it is constantly growing, flowing and flourishing. It means you have found the ability to operate between giving of yourself to others (family, friends, job, etc.) and giving of yourself to yourself (working on your personal goals, projects, business, etc.). This means that you have found a way to say “No” when you need to and “Yes” when you want to without explanation. When that happens, it means you have used your Space to expand your life.
2Space makes room for life to Expand, don’t wait start taking steps today to create the life you’ve been dreaming of. And if you don’t know what that is use this process to map out your interests and review them to see if you can determine which interests you can turn into creating a life that you can live on your terms.
